| The Sault Locks Train
Tour climbs 135 ft. above this gigantic lock system on the
2.5 mile long International Bridge. The view from the train,
as it crosses the bridge to Canada, is a photographer's dream.
From the bridge, you can see ten miles up-river and you can
see ships locking through all five of the American and Canadian
locks. You pass directly above the St. Mary's rapids and hear
the roar of the water. These rapids created the great portage
for boats bound to Lake Superior in the early 1800s.
You can see only the smallest lock from the Corps of Engineers
Park, but from a ride with Soo Locks Train Tours, you will
have an excellent, aerial view of ALL four American locks
and the one Canadian lock.
Travel back in time as you pass by the early French and
American fort sites, past the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters,
around the retired, Great Lakes freighter, Valley Camp, and
cross in front of the world's longest hydro-electric power
plant.
